Simon Grayson Wins Manager Of The Month For October

7 November 2014

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has won Sky Bet League One manager of the month for October.

The Lilywhites won all six fixtures played over the month, five of which were in League One as Preston finished October in second spot.

But the manager was quick to praise the football club as a whole on the achievement after scooping the prize.

Speaking to PNE.Com, Grayson said: “We have had a fantastic month, the players have been out on the pitch doing the business and to win the number of games on the trot that we did, it has been a good period of time for us.

“People talk about the curse of manager of the month – well hopefully that has gone already with the defeats against Swindon Town and Rochdale – so I’m delighted for everyone connected with the Club.

“The players deserve it, they have worked extremely hard, executed game plans we have gone with and obviously got us to the position where we are in the league, so they do deserve a lot of the credit; but so do
my staff, and everybody connected with the football club deserves some sort of plaudits as well.”

Grayson had to fend off some stiff competition for the accolade, with Notts County manager Shaun Derry, Crewe Alexandra’s Steve Davis and Oldham Athletic boss Lee Johnson also nominated.

Congratulations to Simon, his backroom staff and the players on earning the award.
