PNE Player: Tom Clarke Honoured To Wear Captain's Armband

4 September 2014

Defender Tom Clarke described it as an honour to be stand-in captain for the Lilywhites so far this season, and is happy to help out Club captain John Welsh with the role.

Clarke was ever present last season in the PNE back line, and feels his game doesn't change much with this added responsibility as he has always been a vocal presence on the field.

"It's a massive honour, something I'm very proud of, obviously when it happened I couldn't have been more pleased.

"Like I say I just want to hopefully keep playing and keep that armband. We have got a lot of good players here and obviously Welshy [John Welsh] is the skipper as well so it's nice to help him out with that.

"During the games I am quite vocal anyway, so its something that I have just carried on, nothing's really changed its just something I am very proud to have and hopefully I can hold on to it."

To hear more from Tom Clarke ahead of the international break, head over to PNE Player now to watch his extended interview.
