Manager Simon Grayson believes that victory against Notts County could be a huge mental cloud blown away from above his Preston North End troops
The all yellow Lilywhites had to withstand a barrage of pressure from County after Jimmy Spencer hauled the home side back into the contest at 2-1 down following a sublime Jermaine Beckford finish and Joe
Garner’s 22nd league goal of the campaign.
But PNE stood firm and Beckford reaped the rewards, smashing home late on to wrap up the win.
And Grayson knows just how big a night Tuesday could turn out to be.
“Yeah I think so,” said Grayson, when asked if the win was psychologically important.
“To come off two poor man management [performances] and results were we have conceded goals in the games can deflate anybody, not just our players but Premier League players as well.
“That anxiety creeps in and we withstood it; came up with blocks when we had to, and I thought we managed the game a lot better which led to the win.”
