Gally: "We Have To Play With Our Heads Not Just Our Hearts"

23 April 2015

Paul Gallagher believes there is enough experience amongst the squad to remain focused on Saturday when Swindon Town come to Deepdale on Saturday.

The midfielder tells PNE Player the players know what is at stake and admits he and his teammates must play with their heads and not get carried away with what is at stake.

"Being an experienced one out there, you try and lead by example but nerves do get hold of everyone, the tension, not just with the players, the supporters, the management staff but there's times where you have to try and just keep calm and use your experience and let the ball do the running instead of yourself.

There's time you get carried away and you try and do two jobs at the same time and you might get caught out but all season we've done a great job, if anyone said to us you'd be second with two games to go we'd have snatched their hand off.

"It's down to us to go out there and play with the freedom, there's a lot at stake but you can't let that get into your head, you've got to keep your head cool and play with your head as they say, not all with your heart.

"Everyone here is wanting the same thing but it's about being patient as well, we don't have to score in the first minute the games are 90-95 minutes long but it is nice to get an early goal like we seem to be doing at the minute.

"The nerves are kicking in but we've got enough experience around the squad come these last few games to hold it together."

"The most important thing for us is getting the three points and getting this Club up."
