Midfielder John Welsh refuses to get carried away with North End's current league position ahead of another big game at Deepdale on Tuesday night.
"If we go the rest of the season unbeaten and win as many games as possible, the sooner the better, then obviously it will get us up.
"We just keep taking it game by game, not worrying too much about what other people are doing and concentrating on what we are do and how we move forward.
"It's hard to not get caught up in it, obviously as soon as you come in [at full-time] the lads are looking at the scores and seeing how people have done and what other teams have done.
"I think before games you just concentrate on the outcome of your game and what you're going to do to stop the opposition but as soon as the game is finished and you get the win then obviously you come in and see how others have done.
"Hopefully other teams can do us favours and beat other teams and it's a good feeling coming in when you've got a good point or two or a good win and another team has dropped points.
"It's going to be like that until the end of the season, we're expecting it to go all the way and that's what we need to focus on and just keep winning as many games as possible."
