Becks On 'Brilliant Start' For PNE Boys

24 August 2015

Striker Jermaine Beckford praised PNE's start to the season after making his first appearance of the 2015/16 campaign at the weekend.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday night's Capital One Cup tie at Deepdale, last season's Wembley hero admitted he was delighted to get his first minutes of the season against Ipswich Town and is pleased with how the team have settled into life in the Championship.

"It's been a brilliant start, aside from Saturday, we had gone three games unbeaten and got three cleansheets, and for the first season back in the Championship that's brilliant.

"Everybody's very happy with that and I'm just a little bit disappointed that I've not been able to get involved sooner than I have done, but at the same time, it would have been very difficult to find a way into the team if I had been fit.

"I feel fine after the game at the weekend, now I will hopefully get a bit more game time against Watford and then a little bit more at the weekend, but we will see, I'm not the manager but I don't feel bad at all."
