Continue Your Education With PNE This Summer

21 August 2015

Now you've got your GCSE results it's time to decide what to do next, and we could have the perfect opportunity for you.

If you are aged 16 to 18, looking to further your education and have a keen interest in football we have the perfect opportunity for you here at Preston North End.

There are still places available on the course starting this September, so contact our community department on 01772 693309 or email community@pne.com for more details on the course and how to enrol.

The Preston North End football programme is an exciting opportunity for young people to continue their education and career development through playing football and futsal with PNE and we are still looking for new recruits to start this September!

It is a unique experience that combines engaging group education with our BTEC tutors alongside training and developing with UEFA/FA qualified coaches and you will represent PNE in the ECFA North West Division.

We offer both a BTEC level two and a BTEC level three extended diploma in Sport and Exercise. The level three is equivalent to three A levels and provides students with the opportunity to go onto higher education as well as preparing them for the sport and leisure industry.

Students who have already completed this course are taking on to new and exciting opportunities, with a number now studying at University, some have joined the police while others have taken on roles within the Club itself.

It is a unique chance to experience the day to day life of working in a football club, with behind-the-scenes access, a chance to meet the players who come down to speak to students about life in sport.

The carefully selected modules within this course will allow students to sample a variety of fields within the sport industry and potential career pathways include: sports development, sports science, sports medicine, sports coaching, sports nutrition, sports therapy, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coaching, sports journalism and law in sport.

You will get the chance to play eleven-a-side too, with the chance to take on colleges such as Myerscough College, Preston’s College and Runshaw College, as well as a number of local semi-professional teams from the region.

Scholars will receive a minimum of four hours specialised football and futsal training per week with full time FA and UEFA qualified coaches.

Students will also study their BTEC extended diploma in sport over a two year period and will follow a carefully planned pathway of modules to provide scholars with a broad range of knowledge and experience preparing them for potential career pathways.

There will be no exams for students, instead scholars will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course. Assessments will be in the form of presentations, written work, video evidence and practical work which will cater for a number of learning styles.

We feel the work experience on offer at Preston North End provides our students with unique career development opportunities within the sport and leisure industry that cannot be experienced on other college courses.

Any student who wishes to enrol onto this course will need to contact the Sir Tom Finney Foundation by phone on 01772 693309 or by emailing community@pne.com.
