Gaffer Praises Players' Fitness Levels

11 August 2015

With the season underway, manager Simon Grayson praised his players' fitness levels and work ethic ahead of their second of three games within a week.

The PNE boss felt the energy levels shown by his players at the weekend were a testament to the hard work but in my players and staff during pre-season.

"Effort is what we expect and what the supporters expect. I've always been of the old adage that you can have a bad game with the ball but you can't have a bad game without it.

"There's nothing to stop you running around, chasing and tackling. We expect every player to do that and there was people late on in the game chasing the full backs.

"It's a given for me that they go out and do that and then if they don't they could end up sat next to me on a matchday.

"It epitomises what we want from the squad. Over pre-season, they've worked hard, everything we've asked them to do with Tom Little, the fitness  coach, they've done and they've tried to embrace it.

"There's no getting around the fact that it's not easy pre-season but they've done well."
