Summer signing Greg Cunningham spoke to PNE PlayerHD ahead of the Capital One Cup first round tie against Crewe Alexandra.
Manager Simon Grayson has insisted there won't be wholesale changes for the game at Gresty Road, and Cunningham feels that keeping the core of the squad together for the match will benefit the new additions.
"It's important for us to get these games in. The more we train together, and the more we play together we are getting to find out more about each others games and gel together.
"I think it is important for us to really get a run of games under our belts and find out what we are all about.
"Crewe are a good side and we won't be taking the game lightly. We will be working on stuff today and it's a game we're really looking forward to, and hopefully we can get through to the next round."
