Welsh Pleased With Performance Despite First Defeat On The Road

29 August 2015

John Welsh was pleased with PNE's performance despite the 2-0 defeat away to Hull, but admits North End need to be more clinical.

The 31-year-old feels the Lilywhites have nothing to fear in the Championship if they start to take their chances in games, and is hoping these positive performances start producing points as the season continues.

"We played really well, we've done well with the ball, we passed it around well, and created one or two chances and we haven't been clinical and they have and as you go up the leagues that's the difference.

"But with the first couple of games that we've played there's definitely nothing to fear.

"I think that all of the lads playing deserve to be here, we got here on merit and we will keep going.

"There's nothing to be scared off at this level, every player in the squad can play at this level comfortably, as we've seen over the last four or five games.

"We will try and look at the positives, obviously the last two results haven't gone our way but the performances have been good.

"I don't think anyone can complain about the way we've played in the first couple of games, and if we keep that level throughout the season I'm sure we will have a good season."
