Derby Day Delight For Joe

8 December 2015

Lancashire-born striker Joe Garner admitted there was an extra edge to Saturday's local derby for him personally.

Last season's top goalscorer grew up supporting the Lilywhites and so he was as aware as anyone what a victory would mean to the fans and the Club.

Garner set up Daniel Johnson's goal late in the game to secure the three points for Simon Grayson's side and the 27-year-old was delighted to come away from Turf Moor with the bragging rights.

"There was a great atmosphere and it's always nice to win a local derby. For me there's an added edge obviously being local myself.

"It was a tough game but we came out with three points and I thought we played really well.

"We stuck to our game plan that we had gone through in the week and the three points were massive for us."

Speaking of the brilliant vocal support from the PNE faithful, he continued: "It was a good game, a good derby and I really enjoyed it. The fans will have had a good weekend too!

"We've got a great away following and since I've been here we've had some great away days and that was probably right up there with the best."
