'Great Experience' For Young Goalkeeper Matt

20 December 2015

Goalkeeper Matt Hudson was delighted to make his Preston North End debut against Leeds United.

The 17-year-old stopper was called upon just half an hour into the game after first team 'keeper Jordan Pickford was sent off in controversial circumstances.

Hudson was on the PNE bench for only the second time after Chris Kirkland missed the game through illness, and was happy to step up to the challenge.

"It's one of those things really, I was asked to go on the bench a few days ago as they knew Kirky might be missing, it was a great experience and I loved every minute of it when I got on.

"Hopefully it's the first of many to come, there was a lot of pressure coming into a game like this with a lot of fans in the stadium, but thankfully our fans got behind me and I'm very grateful for that.

"I think I did well, I didn't have too much to do but I think the team played well and we all dug in together and thankfully the gaffer has given me the chance to come on and I think I've taken that chance well."
