Harrison Praises Character Of Youth Team After Cup Victory

2 December 2015

Tuesday night saw PNE's Academy side progress to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with victory over Carlisle United.

Academy manager Nick Harrison was delighted for his players, and though he admitted the performances need to be better, he praised the character of his side.

"We're delighted for the lads, we are into the next round and that's what cup competitions are all about. But ultimately we are after good performances and we didn't get that for the majority of the game.

"We felt we did well in little patches and started the game brightly but it's all about performances.

"I felt they showed great character, the football wasn't great for some of them, and we had some bad touches and passes, but I felt the character was very good.

They kept going through to the end and that's what has ultimately won us the tie, but we've got to be better for the majority of the game and play to our strategy and our philoshpy and that's what we're looking for in the next game."
