Gallagher Praises Manager And Calls For Fans To Stick With Team

4 February 2015

PNE bounced back in style with a 3-1 win away against Sheffield United and Paul Gallagher was delighted to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Two goals from the No.12 helped secure the win for the Lilywhites and Gallagher was quick to praise his manager after the victory and called for the fans to stay with the team as they look to build on a fantastic performance.

"The manager is top class, he's got a lot of good players to pick from but he lets you go and enjoy your football and he says in that final third, ‘do what you want, express yourself, no-one is going to shout at you’.

“Tonight we did that and we played some good football and we created a lot of chances.

“It's not like we've been playing really, really badly, it's just we need to start trying to get the first goal and take it from there because we are playing well.

"At Crawley there was a bit of 'ums' and 'ahs' and I was trying to say to them [the fans], ‘we're fourth, come on stay with us’.

“It's a two way thing, we're trying our best but we appreciate that they travel all this way, just stick with us, there's a lot of games to go and we'll come good again.

“Tonight we showed that.

“We want to do it for ourselves but we want to do it for our supporters as well and send them home happy and now we've got a big tie in the next round.

"Everyone is going to have a sticky patch aren't they, hopefully we've had ours and we're still up there around it.

“We are capable of going on runs of eight, nine, ten games unbeaten.

“That's what I was saying at Crawley, ‘stay with us’, there's a lot to play for and we know it was disappointing but hopefully tonight we've shown that we've got the appetite and the hunger to win games and we want them on board with us.”
