Joe Garner Delighted To Return To Squad

5 February 2015

PNE's leading goalscorer Joe Garner speaks to PNE Player following his return to the matchday squad after months on the sidelines with a freak injury.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's league tie with Coventry City, the striker, who scored in the return fixture back in September, admits he was delighted to get back to action for Simon Grayson's side in the FA Cup and his focus is on scoring more goals and getting promotion this season.

"I've been training now the last couple of weeks and getting back right at it and I was happy to get on for the last couple of minutes [against Sheffield United] and obviously more happy with the win.

"For me personally I think the biggest game is Saturday, Coventry at home, we need to get back to winning ways. There's a little gap appeared at the top now from the top two but I think Saturday and Tuesday are our 'bread and butter' and I think they are more important [than the FA Cup].

"Our ambition is to get out of this league this year and I think we will be ready for Saturday and it's a massive game for us."

Speaking of his targets on a personal level, the No.14 said: "I'm confident I can score goals at this level, with players like Gally behind me and we've brought in DJ and Chrissy out wide, I know that I will always get chances and I will get myself into positions to score goals.

"I've just got to make sure that I take them and concentrate on hitting the back of the net. Gally is on 11 goals now, he's doing well but hopefully I should stay infront of him."
