Preston North End Win LMA Performance Of The Week Award

5 February 2015

Preston North End have won the LG sponsored LMA Performance Of The Week Award following Tuesday’s superb win At Bramall Lane.

The League Managers Association five-man performance of the week panel comprising of LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry were in agreement that this week the newly sponsored and longstanding LG Performance of the Week Award should go to PNE following their excellent 3-1 victory against Sheffield United in the FA Cup 4th round replay on Tuesday night.

Preston manager Simon Grayson will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.

This is the Lilywhites’ second award of the season having previously earned it for a fine win against Bristol City in Sky Bet League One on 22nd November last year.

Two goals from Paul Gallagher and one from Paul Huntington sealed a terrific come back from a goal down at half-time, a result which delighted the North End boss.

“We had a disappointing January, not getting the results we expected,” said Grayson.

“This win was just what we needed to provide a platform for a strong finish in the league.

“The incentive to win and play in the fifth round against Manchester United was absolutely massive and we took up the challenge well.

“We now expect a great day at Deepdale which is one the fans and supporters are really looking forward to.”

Congratulations to Simon and all the players on their award.
