Preston North End manager Simon Grayson says his players can hold their heads high following their fifth round FA Cup exit to Manchester United.
But, result aside, Grayson said that the players had done themselves proud.
Speaking to PNE Player, the gaffer had this to say: “We said to the players in the pre-match talk and leading up to the game that we wanted them to go out, work hard, and wake up in the morning having done yourselves justice.
“I think all of them will wake tomorrow and be tired physically and mentally but they can be proud of what they have done.
“They have carried out what we asked them to do, sometimes you get the breaks, sometimes you don’t get the breaks against the top teams, but we have done immense work to try and get the result tonight.
“Unfortunately we have not got the result but we have put on a performance and given a right good account of ourselves.”
