Simon Grayson “We Have To Remain Positive”

20 January 2015

The Preston North End boss reiterated the need to remain optimistic after the Lilywhites 1-1 draw against Yeovil Town this evening.

The Glovers took a first-half lead on the stroke of half-time through Gozie Ugwu who bundled the ball home from a free-kick to mark another frustrating first-half for the home side.

However, the Lilywhites responded through Sylvan Ebanks Blake who rounded the keeper to score his first goal in a North End shirt after 76 minutes.

But although PNE claimed a point this evening, there was scent of disappointment at Deepdale tonight, with North End looking to grab all three points instead of one.

“It’s frustrating for everybody – the players, myself, the staff and the supporters,” said Grayson on Preston’s recent run of form to PNE Player.

“We were looking at these two home games against Yeovil and Leyton Orient thinking it would be a good opportunity to pick up six points, but obviously we’ve only managed to get the two.

“The confidence and belief isn’t at its highest level at this moment in time, but the players didn’t hide – they kept on grinding it out, and we did well to get back into the game after a disappointing end to the first-half.

“There’s still 20 games to go and plenty of football to be played – we’ve got to remain positive because as the staff, if we don’t remain positive then that reflects to the players, and I’ve still got a lot of belief in the players with what they can do.”
