Sylvan Ebanks-Blake: “I Am Up For The Challenge”

1 January 2015

The new North End No.40 is excited at the prospect of getting started with his new Club.

The frontman completed a deal until the of the season at new year and has taken the No.40 shirt in Simon Grayson’s squad – going straight into the reckoning for the FA Cup third round clash with Norwich City.

Speaking to PNE Player after completing the formalities of the contract the 28-year-old admitted he had wanted to sign from almost the first day of his five week trial, due to the fact the coaching staff had been full and frank with him.

“Honesty in football is very important,” he told the Club’s online video service. “That’s all you require and then you know what you need to do to get into the team; or in my case, to earn a contract.

“I’ve had some very good spells in my career and I am looking to get back to that.

“This is a great platform for me to be able to do that. First and foremost I know I have to work very hard to get into the team, as we have a lot of good players here – the team is going well and there is a very good bunch of lads and team spirit here.

“I have to work hard, but I am up for the challenge and that is why I am here.”

And he is well aware what is expected of his as well: “Strikers live and die by their goals,” he continued.

“First and foremost you have to work hard to get into the team and to stay in the team.

“The managers I have worked under and played under have done that and I know what my job is and as long as I can stay fit I am confident it can go well.”
