Match Preview: Motherwell v Preston North End

23 July 2015

Simon Grayson takes his troops north for North End’s latest pre-season jaunt, this time against Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.

After dispatching of Southport on Tuesday evening 4-0, PNE face their second Scottish side of this pre-season campaign.

On paper, high flying Heart of Midlothian, who Preston beat 1-0 at Deepdale on Saturday, may be seen by some as a tougher proposition, but the Steelmen, who won a two legged Play-Off against Rangers to secure their Premiership status at the end of last season, have a decent pedigree about them;
facing the likes of Panathanaikos and Kuban Krasnodar in Champions League and Europa League qualifying in recent years.

With Jermaine Beckford, Joe Garner and Paul Gallagher all rested on Tuesday, the general consensus is that all three will feature at one stage or another this Friday.

Kyel Reid and Neil Kilkenny, who both missed Saturday’s win over the Jambos, also came through Tuesday night unscathed and should be available for selection.

The match, scheduled for 7pm on Friday at Almondvale Stadium, the home of Livingston FC rather than Motherwell’s natural home of Fir Park, is the venue for PNE’s trip north of the border.

This will be the first day of a mini break in Scotland for Grayson’s men, the squad spending time together before returning south on Tuesday for their friendly fixture with Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

North End go into this contest with an impressive record of conceding not a single goal in their last seven fixtures; stretching back to their Play-Off success over Chesterfield in May.

Entry to Friday’s fixture is priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with payment on the turnstiles.

Official coach travel is also running from Deepdale and Leyland, departing at 3pm with a flat price of £25 per person. Travel can be booked by calling 0844 856 1966 or by visitng the Sir Tom Finney Stand ticket office.

If you can’t make it to Livingston, you can listen to the full match live on PNE PlayerHD with Jonathan Breeze from 6.45pm.
