Steve Thompson Looking To Bring Experience To Preston North End

1 July 2015

New PNE first team coach Steve Thompson is ready to buy into the club’s hard working ethos following his appointment.

Thompson, who played with Simon Grayson at Leicester City and was his assistant at Blackpool, joins the Lilywhites with immediate effect ahead of pre-season training getting underway on Thursday.

Thompson was number two to Chris Powell at Huddersfield Town and then Neil Redfearn at Leeds United over the course of 2014/15, but having kept a close eye on the fortunes of North End, the Oldham native can’t wait to get started with the players and staff at Deepdale.

“From an outsider looking in, you have got a fantastic team spirit there,” said Thompson, in an exclusive interview with PNE PlayerHD.

“From just missing out on automatic promotion to going up via the Play-Offs at Wembley, that shows great character.

“You have got hard working staff, a fantastic bunch of players, and they have got to kick on again in the Championship.

“I know what it is like to get out of the Championship, and hopefully my experience will help everybody else.

“The players, the staff, they work hard, and I will buy into that as well.”
