Comeback pleases Simon Grayson

3 March 2015

At one point it looked like PNE were going to win it, but at another it looked like they were going to lose it as Doncaster and North End battled out a 2-2 draw.

Going in at half-time the Lilywhites were in the ascendency thanks to Daniel Johnson’s 13th minute goal – his fourth in four games.

But Rovers responded with goals from Harry Forrester and Curtis Main to snatch the lead to shock the home crowd, but North End never gave up and were rewarded late in added time through Jermaine Beckford who fired a well-executed volley into the Doncaster net.

The draw sees PNE hold the second automatic promotion place with a trip to MK Dons next up this Saturday.

“We’re relieved we’ve got a point out of it,” said Grayson to PNE Player. “At one stage it looked like we were going to win it, but at one stage it looked like we were going to lose it.

“No matter who you play, when you concede two in five minutes then it is going to knock the stuff out of you but we kept going and credit to them.

On Beckford’s finish – he added “No disrespect to the players but I don’t think there’s many people on that pitch who could have scored that goal because of the quality that it took and from the angle that it was and that’s why he’s played at the highest level."
