John Welsh Aiming For Top Spot

12 March 2015

PNE's John Welsh is happy the team are in second place but insists the aim is still to reach the top spot by the end of the season.

North End currently sit in second in League One but with twelve games left to play, the midfielder believes that first place is still within reach.

"We're in a good position but you get nothing for being second in March so the aim is still to finish first so we'll keep winning games and keep trying to catch Bristol City.

"We won't be happy with just second, because I think once you get there you get into a false sense of security then, there's still a lot of football to be played so we'll keep aiming for first and keep picking up the points.

"That's what we are aiming for, I think they've gone a couple of games unbeaten at some stage a couple of weeks ago but you never know who can slip up and as we've always said all season, it's a strange league.

"Anyone can beat anyone on the day, so we just need to focus on what we do and make sure we keep picking up the wins."
