Scott Laird Indecisive On Point Gained Or Two Dropped

21 March 2015

Preston North End full back Scott Laird found it difficult to say whether PNE’s point against Barnsley was a good or a bad one.

The Lilywhites lead 1-0 at the interval; but could have been a few goals up on Barnsley before the Tykes came storming back into the contest in the second half, North End’s backline succumbing in the 79th minute.

And Preston came within inches of sending almost 3,000 gentry day celebrating fans home ecstatic in the final seconds, but Bailey Wright’s header was grasped with relief by ‘keeper Adam Davies; a full time result which had Laird in thoughtful mood.

“It’s a hard one because the run we have been on, personally, I think it is a shame we have conceded a goal,” said the PNE No.3.

“They had a lot of possession in the second half but I think we weathered the storm.

“We conceded a sloppy goal, but if you were to look at it in the grand scheme of things then it is a point gained against a very good side who are on a very good run.”
