Preston North End captain Tom Clarke was devastated at full-time following defeat against Colchester United.
The all yellow Lilywhites failed to break down the U’s defence all afternoon on a day when Colchester kept their League One status.
Speaking to PNE Player following the match which sees North End face Chesterfield over two legs in the Play-Offs, Clarke said: “We are gutted; gutted we couldn’t do it.
“We felt that if we stayed in the game we would always create chances.
“They missed a penalty and it should have pushed us on a little bit more after that.
“We are disappointed in the changing room but we have got to go again quickly.”
