Calum Woods Happy To Do Job Anywhere

17 October 2015

Calum Woods has started the last two North End games at right back, but has finished them both at centre half, but admitted he is happy to do a job anywhere for the team.

The North End No.15 spoke to PNE Player after the Lilywhites’ goalless draw with Cardiff City at Deepdale and admitted he was having to prepare to play anywhere at present.

“It has happened a few times now that I have started the game at full back and had to finish at centre half, but I am just there to do a job,” he told the Club’s online TV channel.

“We are down to the bare bones in terms of defensive players at the minute, but if I am asked to play in another position then I will do that for the team.

“They had a little bit of pressure on us after I went into centre half, but we made some important blocks and kept fighting.

“It was a hard fought point. I thought we had a few chances to win it, but unfortunately we just couldn’t get it into the net, but as a team we all dug in deep and played well.”

Woods felt that the team has been positive in the second half and were unlucky not to have got more than the point they picked up: “We had a good couple of shout for penalties, but unfortunately they weren’t given.

“We also had a good chance through DJ and he was unfortunate. He has scored a few this season and I am sure he’ll be back of the scoresheet very soon.”

And with two long away trips in the next seven days the Scouse defender says the team must be confident of getting results: “We definitely need to keep our confidence levels high. Every game that we have played this season we have always been in the game.

“No one has been massively on top of us and we have been the better team in most of the games, we just haven’t been able to the get the results we would have liked to.

“We have two important games this week now. We are looking forward to the trip to Charlton and will be looking to go there and get the three points,” he added.
