Greg Cunningham Pleased With Defensive Solidity

31 October 2015

Irish international defender Greg Cunningham has been a part of the back three that has now made it four games without conceding.

He spoke to PNE PlayerHD after the Lilywhites made it four games unbeaten and he was pleased that the work going on at Springfields was paying off for the defenders.

“From a defensive point of view we are very happy,” he told the online TV channel. “We have had some tough games recently and we have done well and kept clean sheets and that is our aim, to make sure we are hard to beat and give ourselves that opportunity to try and go and win the game.

“There was a great atmosphere at the game – like there always is at home – but with that added incentive of the derby and there were a few challenges and emotions were flowing.

“We have been unlucky in front of goal at times, but we are confident that once one goes in that the floodgates will start opening, but we try to make ourselves hard to beat and we will continue to build on that.

“It has been grand at centre half. With Bails on one side of me and Reachy on the other side we are working with each other and working alongside Cal in training to make sure we are defensively solid and the record with four clean sheets in a row we are comfortable. I am happy to play wherever the gaffer wants me to play.”
