PNE are edged out in five goal thriller
Preston U18s bowed out of the LFA Youth Cup at the hands of fellow North-West side Wigan, 3-2.North End got off to the perfect start through James Boyd who slotted home after just a minute, only for Wigan to cut the deficit just six minutes later with a free-kick into the top corner.
Adam James Robinson made it 2-1 in favour of the Lilywhites before half-time, but the home side were pegged back once again as the Latics made it 2-2 just before the hour mark.
Just as spot-kicks were beginning to dawn, Wigan took the initiative to grab a winner in the 75th minute, dumping Preston out of the competition.
