Ben Davies Reflects On Cup Exit

8 September 2015

Captain on the night Ben Davies was disappointed with the result, but felt the young PNE side showed promise against a strong Everton side.

Davies feels the team did themselves proud in spells, and hopes the presence of players like himself and Josh Brownhill, can help inspire the younger players to follow in their footsteps and break into the first team.

"I think we had spells where we matched them, they are obviously a Premier League side, and I think that the goals were avoidable.

"We lost a couple of experienced players quite early on which I don't think helped us, but the lads that come on did well and you can see that there is some talent coming through as well.

"On a personal level, I hope to pass on my experience to them, they will learn from playing with older players.

"I look to help them and keep them going, and I hope they see the likes of me and Josh, and see the academy is a route to the first team and that it's doable and I think they are doing well."
