Clive Smith Not Disheartened Despite Defeat

17 September 2015

Young defender Clive Smith feels the PNE Academy lads will bounce back after a cruel exit from the Premier League U21 Cup.

North End were beaten by a single goal late on, though Smith felt he had cleared the ball before it had crossed the line.

"We performed well for the 90 minutes, we worked hard as a team, we were great defensively and through the midfield and we could have nicked a few goals .

"To be honest, in my opinion it wasn't over the line, but you get those days, and you get decisions that don't got your way and you've just got to bounce back."

The 16-year-old has been spending time training with the first team squad after featuring for Simon Grayson's side during pre-season, and he hopes his hard work in games like these can help him progress further with the senior squad.

"I'm loving training with them, the first team lads are great, I'm just really thankful for the opportunity to be honest and I couldn't ask for more, it's brilliant."

"Hard work is key, and I've just got to give everything I can in everything I do and hopefully someone might give me a chance."
