Nick Harrison 'Gutted' By Cup Exit

17 September 2015

Academy manager admits he was gutted by the nature of his side's exit from the Premier League U21 cup.

Harrison's side were beaten in the final minute of the game but a dubious goal, but despite the disappointment, the Academy boss was pleased with his side's overall performance in the tie.

"I'm gutted, especially for the lads, because we felt they put in a great performance for 89 minutes, we just switched off a little bit for the goal in terms of defending.

"They got a bit of luck as well, it was a great save from Callum Roberts, and obviously the referee feels that the ball crept over the line, we're not too sure.

"We're not sure how they can make that decision when they're not close enough, so yes we are gutted.

"In the dressing room at the end you could see how gutted and disappointed the lads are but we remind them that the performance was very good, I thought we dominated the game.

"We actually had some great chances in the second half to go and win the game by two or three, we just needed to be more clinical in the final third and if we had we would have won that game."
