Pickford Delighted To Make England U21 Debut

4 September 2015

Jordan Pickford made his debut for England U21s in a 1-0 win over USA at Deepdale.

After playing at various youth levels for the national side, the young 'keeper was handed his debut by Gareth Southgate, and the on-loan Sunderland 'keeper was delighted to get his first U21 cap, keeping a cleansheet in the process.

"It was really good, the fans came out in force as well and it was a great honour and a priviledge to make my debut.

"I'm really proud of it and to do it in Preston and to get a good reception was really pleasing too.

"As a 'keeper you want a cleansheet and then the lads came on and got the goal, so it w as good all round.

"We only got together three days ago so it was a really good performance keeping a cleansheet and getting the win."
