PNE Land Strike Duo On Deadline Day

1 September 2015

Preston North End are delighted to announce the signings of strikers Stevie May and Eoin Doyle.

May joins PNE on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield Wednesday while Cardiff City frontman Doyle signs on a season-long loan.

Irishman Doyle will take up the No.13 shirt with former St Johnstone striker Stevie May wear the No.24 jersey.

The pair bring with them a strong goalscoring records, with 22-year-old May scoring 67 goals in 117 games during his time north of the border in Scotland.

Doyle was a key player in Chesterfield reaching the Play-Offs in 2015, scoring 25 goals in 33 appearances for them in the 2014/15 season, including a hat-trick for the Spireites on his last appearance at Deepdale.

Manager Simon Grayson said that his two new signings were players who he has admired for some time.

"As soon as we knew Jermaine was out injured we felt that we needed to strengthen at the top end of the pitch.

"Stevie and Eoin are players that we've been after in the past and so when the option became available to be able to sign one permanently and one on loan, it was a great opportunity to go and get good players who will enhance the squad and obviously I'm looking forward to working with them.

"It's a long season, there's a lot of games and you've got to make sure that all of the players are fit and raring to go, so I'm just delighted to have these options, they are quality additions and provide good competition for places which can only be healthy."
