Wright Reflects On International Duty Ahead Of Derby Clash

10 September 2015

Bailey Wright has spent the last two weeks travelling with the Australia national side, but is happy to return to Deepdale this weekend.

The Socceroos played two World Cup qualifiers during the international break, with two successive victories, two cleansheets and eight goals scored.

Wright played 90 minutes in each game, as Australia cruised to a 5-0 victory over Bangladesh, before maintaining their 100% record in the road to Russia 2018, beating Tajikistan 3-0 away from home.

Speaking to PNE PlayerHD on his return to training with North End, the 23-year-old said: "There was a lot of travelling but it's been good. It was a great experience and it was nice to get out on the pitch and get two good wins.

"Obviously they were World Cup qualifiers so it was important that we had two good results and two good performances so it was nice to get back on home soil in Australia and play there.

"I am back now and I'm looking forward to Saturday, Derby haven't hidden the fact that they're pushing for promotion and they are willing to spend what they need to spend to do it..

"We know it's going to be a tough game, they're a big club, they did well last season, but we will look at how we want to play and we are confident with the start we've had and we know we're a tough game for anyone."
