Simon Grayson spoke to PNEPlayerHD on his 'frustration and anger' after today's 1-1 draw to MK Dons.
The PNE boss was far from happy with his side's second half performance after PNE failed to match the standards set from the first half, into the second.
It could, and should have been more in the first half for North End but the Lilywhites couldn't make their dominance pay and went in at half time with just the one goal lead.
The home side would live to rue those missed chances as 10 minutes into the second half, the Dons made it 1-1 when Nicky Maynard bundled home from point blank range.
The drama didn't stop there; with 83 minutes on the clock, Eoin Doyle was brought down inside the box by Cody Cropper leading to the shot stopper being shown his marching orders from the referee.
With the Dons making all three changes, Alex Revell was forced to go in goal for the penalty of which Joe Garner took, and the deputising 'keeper pulled off a terrific save to ensure it remained honours even to the dismay of Simon Grayson who believed his side had let themselves down in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Grayson said: "We needed that goal in the second half and we wanted that from the players to get the result, but too many of the players in the second half didn't do that and that's cost us two more valuable points.
"I've had a go at the players in there and I've not had to do that many times this season because they've give everything this season for me but I wasn't happy today. We've set ourselves standards this season and today we've not reached them.
"We have to make sure we keep working hard. We're 10th at this moment in time and I don't want us to finish 15th or 16th because that's not where we deserve to finish.
"They didn't do what they should have done in that second half. They didn't win their individual battles whether it was a tackle, a header or stay with runners and ultimately we could have lost it at the end.
"We were awarded a penalty in the second half and I just had a feeling that Joe Garner would miss it, not because I didn't think he could score but because of how badly we were playing. It summed up how we performed second half.
"I'm frustrated as I've not been that angry with the players for a long, long time because I haven't needed to be, but we weren't good enough in that second half.
"We've still got four great games to be involved in and the players have to look at themselves and justify whether they have done enough to be in the team and too many didn't get up to the standards we set at this Club."
