Gaffer On Opportunities For Places

7 April 2016

Manager Simon Grayson hopes the players coming into the starting Xl grasp the opportunity this weekend.

The gaffer will be forced into at least one change with Adam Reach unavailable against his parent club, and there are more doubts from Tuesday's game with three players leaving the field with knocks.

Tom Clarke and Calum Woods were both substituted in the first 20 minutes of the game with head and calf injuries respectively, with Jordan Hugill also suffering with an ankle problem in the second half.

All three players will be assessed ahead of Saturday but the manager admits he will be back down to the bare bones of the squad should they miss out, but feels it provides a chance for others to prove themselves in the starting Xl.

"It's not going to be easy, we've had a couple of players who've been out of the 18 who will now go back in to it but you have to deal with these situations.

"We will be without Reachy and the possibility of two or three others from Tuesday night but we will just see where we go with everybody.

"It does give other people the opportunity to come back into the team and whoever comes in to the team will do their best to try and get a result for us.

"The most important people at a football club are the players that aren't playing. We have to make sure that we keep them right, that's why we have games behind closed doors, we work hard after matches, and work hard when they aren't playing because they never know when they are going to be called upon." The PNE boss continued.

"They have fitness exercises to do, keeping them sharp physically and mentally and I think it's been a big thing that when any player has come into the team they have gone and produced a performance because they have to be up to speed with the rest of the lads.

"So whoever comes in on Saturday will do a job, you saw Marnick come on the other night and do a job and hopefully that's the case with others."
