Hugill 'Can't Wait' For The Weekend

7 April 2016

Jordan Hugill will be working hard to be fit in time to face boyhood club Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The striker was substituted on Tuesday night's defeat to Fulham with an ankle problem, but the 23-year-old is desperate to be ready for the weekend.

Having supported the Club as a child and growing up on Teeside, the frontman would relish the chance to play at the Riverside once again.

"I've been saying to the lads all day that I would play if my foot was hanging off so we will see how it goes and hopefully it will be alright.

"I'm expecting the Boro fans to take quite a lot this weekend, obviously they are coming up to the final run in for the season and they want to finish in the best position they can so it will be a great atmosphere for us. We've just got to do what we do and go there, put a performance on and hopefully get three points.

Hugill was on the scoresheet the last time PNE travelled to Middlesbrough, scoring in the Capital One Cup defeat last season, and he is hoping to keep that record going on Saturday.

"I would like to keep my record up at the Riverside, one in one is quite good! I can't wait because I've got a lot of friends who are going to be sitting in the Boro end as well so they won't want me to score!

"I can't wait, I just want to be there and play, I want to score a goal again for us so I just can't wait for the game.

"This game is what the Championship is all about, the atmosphere, you don't get any bigger than a team that's fighting at the top and you know that  they're going to bring a massive following to the game as well.

"I'm looking forward to it, I'm sure the lads are as well so I just can't wait."
