Simon Grayson spoke to PNEPlayerHD after PNE marked their final away game of the season with a 2-1 victory over Reading.
It caps off a memorable season for the travelling North End fans after seeing their side beat the likes of Burnley, Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn on their own patch.
Jermaine Beckford's delightful finish 10 minutes into the second half gave North End a lead they fully deserved after dominating the first 45.
However, it looked as though the hosts would steal a point when the Royals' Stephen Quinn fired home seven minutes from time, only for North End to march their way up the other end to score in the 90th minute.
The winner, came in the form of Daniel Johnson who scored his first goal since January and Simon Grayson was delighted that the 23-year-old could send the away following home happy.
"It could have been put to bed at half time, but we didn't so we had to maintain that in the second half," said the Preston North End boss.
"The first half was as good as we played in a long time, if not all season. Before the game, I wanted the performance, physically and mentally as if it was the first game of the season and to be organised, disciplined and to keep going and we did.
"It was great that DJ [Daniel Johnson] was able to get a goal as I thought he was very good today.
"We've had 700 - 800 supporters today, they didn't need to turn up today and spend their money with it being the last away game of the season but they did and rightly so the players showed their appreciation for each other and for the fans.
"We're delighted for them today and for ourselves because we want to win as many games as possible to finish as high up the table today.
