Manager Simon Grayson admits he may look to freshen things up ahead of another game on Tuesday night.
It's a relentless start to the campaign with Saturday, Tuesday games for the first three weeks, and the gaffer may look to utilise his squad during the busy period after three games in quick succession.
Speaking ahead of the visit of Derby County, the PNE boss said: "We've now gone Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and we are going into another Tuesday night game so it does give you food for thought in terms of freshening the team up a little bit if you need to do that.
"The players are playing well, training well, and it's obviously something we look at all of the time with competition for places.
"Who can come in and do a job, who is ready to play, who isn't ready to play, who is affecting things in training, all of these factors come in when you are picking a team and we will pick the team that's hopefully going to get our first victory against Derby on Tuesday night."
North End are looking to get their first points on the board on Tuesday night, but the manager isn't reading too much into his side's start to the season as they look to get that first win in the league.
"It's not ideal because you want a bit more recovery time and time to work on the training pitch but everyone has the same problem. Obviously everyone wants to start the season like Bristol City ad Huddersfield etc. Getting two wins straight away, nobody wants a zero next to their name.
"If you lose two games on the trot in the middle of the season, nobody takes too much notice but at the start of the season it's panic stations all over, but there certainly isn't amongst our group.
"I'm sure there isn't at Newcastle, Leeds and Blackburn as well who have done the same so it's how it can be.
"We know what we need to do to try and get our season up and running and hopefully that's very quickly."
