Manager Pleased With Options Available

25 August 2016

Manager Simon Grayson is pleased with his options going into this weekend's game against Ipswich Town.

The gaffer has been left with a potential selection headache after a number of players came into the starting Xl on Tuesday night and performed well.

With back to back wins for the Lilywhites, the PNE boss has plenty of options with the whole squad fighting for their place in the side, something the manager is pleased with.

"That's the way it has to be, the worst scenario for us is that players who are coming in are not doing their jobs or the team that has started on a Saturday not doing their jobs because it all becomes a mixed bag of what you try and pick.

"The last two results have been encouraging, we know we've still got to keep working hard, the players know what they need to do and it's just nice to have those options.

"By the time the window shuts as well it would be nice to have another couple of options for the long term of the season."

Speaking of next week's summer transfer window deadline, the gaffer continued: "I made a comment on Tuesday night that I need all the deals done before Wednesday because it's my day off but believe me if I have to come in to do deals I will me coming in, don't worry about that!

"Those above me have a list of players that I've given them and they are working hard to make sure that we bring a few players in."

For now though the focus is solely on Saturday's trip to Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town, a team and manager that Simon Grayson knows plenty about.

"We know what to expect, Portman Road is always a difficult place to go. But if we can perform like we did there last year, and like we did last weekend against QPR, being hard to beat but play when we get chance to play and be ruthless in both boxes, then it gives us a great opportunity so we are looking forward to it."
