Marnick Happy To Be Back

31 August 2016

Marnick Vermijl was pleased to finally complete a permanent move to Deepdale after signing a three-year deal.

The defender signed for PNE for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield Wednesday on deadline day, and was happy to be back at North End.

Speaking to PNE PlayerHD after the move, the 24-year-old said: I’m happy to back and obviously looking forward to a good season.

"It took some time to get it sorted but in the end we got there. I'm happy to sign for three-years here, I had a great time last season so now that I know the club, I know how it works and I know everyone at the club. it will make it a lot easier.

"We did really well last season but now it’s a different season we need to start again. Get as many points as we can, get us up the table as quickly as possible and see where we can end.

"It’s even a bigger difference than last season if you see the amount of money that the top teams are spending this year. It’s getting a bit crazy.  The only thing that we can do is work hard and prepare really well and do our best.

On a personal level, Vermijl is looking to build on his positive end to the 2015/16 campaign, and feels he should settle in quickly now he knows the majority of the squad.

"I'm just looking to be more consistent this season and play a huge part in this Preston North End side.

"It’s always difficult when you come to a new club you don’t your teammates, you don’t know their names.

"I remember last season I only trained one or two days and was straight into the side.

"It’s always difficult to get into a side in the beginning but near the end of the season I really adapted to this side. Hopefully I can kick on from that this year."
