Maxwell On Deepdale Bow

23 August 2016

Chris Maxwell spoke to PNEPlayerHD of his delight after making his debut in North End colours tonight.

PNE fans were able to witness the former Fleetwood shot stopper for the first time competitively at Deepdale tonight, and Maxwell was impressed with the work in front of him this evening.

"The lads worked hard and we were a really organised unit so it was really encouraging to play behind that," said the summer signing to PNEPlayerHD after the game.

"It was a good night; a 2-0 win and a clean sheet so you can't ask much more that that."

The North End man also stated his intentions this season after the game tonight, admitting that he's aiming for more game time after almost assisting Jordan Hugill for the second goal.

"I've come here to play, and day in, day out I've been striving to get that start so I'm really pleased to be on the pitch tonight and to be able to contribute."

"We had a bit of a sticky spot at the start of the season, but every club has them and nothing's won or lost in the final three games of the season, but we feel as if our season's really kicked on now on the back of Saturday's victory and that shows the strength in depth of the squad."

On setting up the second goal, he added: "If I can contribute to an assist that's a plus point but my job is to keep the ball out of the net."
