Preston North End have been drawn at home to Premier League giants Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
North End will host Arsene Wenger's men at Deepdale in January with the two sides facing each other in competitive action for the first time since 1999.The last encounter came in October 1999 in the league cup, where North End were beaten 2-1 away from home as the Gunners progressed to the next round.
The tie is a repeat of the third round tie of the same competition back in 1999, when PNE played host to Arsenal. Manager Simon Grayson will be hoping for a different result this time around, that game ending 4-2 to the visitors despite Kurt Nogan giving PNE a two goal lead. Arsenal were knocked out at the semi-final stage that season against eventual winners Manchester United.
The tie will certainly provide the magic of the cup, with North End hosting one of the biggest teams in world football once again after the visit of Manchester United in the fifth round of the competition in 2015.
Third round ties are set to take place on the weekend of 7th/8th January. Ticket details and a confirmed date for this tie will be announced in due course.
