Whites Christmas: Players Surprise PNE Fan At Home

20 December 2016

With the kettle boiled and the feet up, Ann Bamber and family were expecting just a normal Monday afternoon in front of the television.

Cue John Welsh, Eoin Doyle and Calum Woods who interrupted the afternoon’s showing on the box to surprise Ann with a Christmas hamper, kindly donated by our friends at The Villa North End.

Ann had been nominated for North End’s Whites Christmas campaign as a special ending to what’s been a tough year for her and the family.

Not only was Ann diagnosed with Cancer, her daughter and husband were also diagnosed with the same illness in 2016, yet the family have refused to let that get the best of them, a vibe which inspired Doyle when he paid the family a visit.

“Seeing how positive they are is really inspirational,” said Doyle. “They gave me a bit of a hard time following my recent events but it was an enjoyable conversation and it was nice to pop out and wish them all of the best.

“They’ve been going through a tough time at the minute but it was good to cheer them up, give them a hamper and wish them a Merry Christmas.

“They’ve got a strong family around them who you can see are digging in and helping them out and we wish them all of the best.”
