Gaffer Looks Ahead To 'A Great Game'

18 February 2016

Manager Simon Grayson feels this weekend's match against Sheffield Wednesday has all the ingredients to be a great game.

The two sides in terrific form go head to head at Deepdale on Saturday and the gaffer feels his side has what it takes to get another result against a top six side.

The Lilywhites have taken points off every other side in the top ten of the Championship and the manager is hoping that can continue this weekend.

"It's a nice position to be in, we are up there in front of a lot of big teams, and we've been very consistent with our performances.

"We know how hard we've worked to get to this number of points so far so credit to Sheffield Wednesday for what they're doing as well.

"We know it's going to be a tough game, they've gone out and recruited from the summer, built again in the January window with the signing of Hooper, McGeady from Everton, and these are all top, top players and they've got one ambition which is to try and get into the Premier League.

"We know it's going to be a test for us but we've really enjoyed the big games and big atmospheres this year. The last biggest one we've had was the Hull game, where every man of ours played very well and got the victory so hopefully that's the case again on Saturday."

North End have a good record against the top sides, and the manager knows his players can step up to the challenge when necessary and hopes this weekend is another example of that.

"When we come against better players, they stick their chests out and know if they are not on their game today then we are going to be found out and we've seen a lot of performances so far this season where they've done very well.

"Hopefully that's the case again, they will be backed by a fantastic following, and I'm sure there will be a lot of home supporters, so it's got all of the ingredients there to be a great game and I hope we can maintain the run that we are on at this moment in time and if we win we close the gap to Sheffield Wednesday and one or two above you.

"The players are focused, they are working hard, and just really enjoying what they're doing. They're working hard for each other and they'll see where it takes them.

"It was a buoyant dressing room after the game last Saturday, we've had a good week and we've got some work into them so I think they just can't wait for the game now."
