Garner On Milestone Goal

23 February 2016

Joe Garner was understandably delighted to mark his 100th career goal with a 2-1 win against Charlton this evening.

The PNE boyhood fan fired North End into the lead in the 34th minute only for the Addicks to march up the other end and equalise moments later through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

However, Preston restored their advantage early in the second-half through Callum Robinson, who converted Adam Reach’s cross to secure a fourth win in as many games.

“I’ve never seen an easy Championship game because no game in this division is,” told the centurion who also scored his 55th goal in Preston colours this evening.

“You have to grind out results and that’s exactly what we did tonight. We’re on a great run and the credit goes to the staff and the players.

“As a striker you’re judged on your goals, I’ve got a goal tonight but there’s no individuals in this side.”

“It’s an achievement for me and my family and it’s time to keep going now.” On his fellow goalscorer, Robinson, he added. “He deserved his goal, he’s been working hard and he’s a top lad and if he keeps working hard he’ll go a long way.”
