Grayson: "We Can't Complain"

27 February 2016

Manager Simon Grayson had few complaints after his side lost 2-1 away to Play-Off chasing Cardiff City.

The defeat saw the end of a four game winning run for the Lilywhites, but the manager won't be too disheartened by the result given his side's recent form.

Two penalties won the game for the hosts on the day, and despite a late goal from Callum Robinson, PNE were unable to overturn a two goal deficit.

"We can't complain, we've been on a very good run recently and we've not suffered a disappointed dressing room too often.

"To lose today against a team around us in the league looking for the Play-Offs is obviously disappointing and a little bit frustrating but when you look back on the game we probably didn't play with the same kind of energy that we have over the last few weeks.

"We've been beaten, but we haven' t been punished by any real good play, we were obviously disappointed with the two penalties, but I thought they were both the right decision."

"We are disappointed that the good run has come to an end but I can't be too critical of the players of what they have done recently."

The gaffer named the same starting Xl for the fourth game in a row, and admitted tiredness may have played it's part in the Welsh capital with his side not quite performing to their recent high standards.

"We went with the same team that had played the last three games and I just thought that we looked a bit off the pace with and without the ball in the first half.

"There was nothing in the first half, I don't think they created too many chances, Anders made a very good save from a header, but they didn't really threaten us too often." The manager continued.

"We had some good opportunities and some decent play without making it really count. We had a better second half, and caused them a few more problems.

"I thought we started the second half better, we changed the system and eventually we changed it again."

"it was a difficult pitch so we wanted to go a bit more direct and the subs made an impact when they came on. It was unfortunate they got the penalty when they did, but I did think it was a penalty, that just knocked a bit of the steam out of us at that time.

"After that we gathered our thoughts on what we needed to do and pinned them back in the last 15 minutes and scored a very good goal.

"At the back end of it we maybe could have got an equaliser, that would have been nice but it didn't happen and now we've got to get ourselves rested and ready for next weekend."
