Looking Up For Clarke And Co.

25 February 2016

PNE skipper Tom Clarke is feeling positive after a run of four successive victories and is looking to extend that run this weekend.

North End sit just six points away from the Play-Off places in the Championship, but the dressing room won't be getting carried away with the recent run of form, and will continue to take the season game-by-game.

Speaking of the team's current league position, Clarke said: "It's good that we are looking up the table to teams like Derby, we're not too far away from them and we're not too far away from the Play-Offs now and we are coming to the business end of the season, the games are running out and we are in good form so we are confident.

"The Play-Offs aren't totally unrealistic, why not, we've shown that we can go on a run and back to back wins in this league don't come easily, but we are just taking each game as it comes.

Next up for the Lilywhites is a trip to face Russell Slade's Cardiff City side on Saturday, and although Clarke expects a tough game, he is hoping he and his teammates can build on the momentum of recent results.

"We are confident in each game that comes up and hopefully we can go to Cardiff and put on a good performance and get the three points that we want.

"I know the manager there really well, his staff are really good people and it's a really big club but we are close to them points wise, we can go above them if we beat them so that's the incentive now.

"It's a case of getting out on to the training pitch, working on them and working on what we can do. The squad's really on a high at the minute and we need to carry that on.

"The biggest thing in football is momentum and that winning feeling and that's what we want when we come into the changing room after each game and know that we've given everything we can and we've got the result.

"We got the result we wanted against Charlton and we quickly move on now to Cardiff and our sole focus is on that game now.
