Callum Robinson: “We Should Have Took Our Chances”

23 January 2016

Callum Robinson was left to rue missed chances on his return to Deepdale, as North End were defeated 3-1 against Brentford.

The Aston Villa loanee played his first game at Deepdale in Preston colours since the Play-Off semi-final victory against Chesterfield at the end of last season, and told PNE PlayerHD his joy that he was back in PR1.

But although he was happy to be back, he was disappointed to mark his return with a defeat, and acknowledged it could have been a different scenario had the Lilywhites taken their chances.

“When it was 2-1 to them in the second-half we could have actually ended up getting the win with the chances we had, so it’s disappointing but now we’ve got a good 10 days now until our next game.

“We did a lot better in the second-half – we put more energy into it, we hit the bar twice, and Jordan [Hugill] came close so we had chances.

“The third goal killed us a bit because we had the momentum at that stage – for those 20 minutes, we were really pressing them – we had the chances and if we took one of them it could have been a different story, but it just didn’t work out today.

“In the Championship, you have to take your chances otherwise they’ll take them at the other end, so we’re disappointed not getting the goals when we had the chances.”

On his return to Deepdale, the youngster added: “I was buzzing this morning when I realised I’d be back at Deepdale  - I couldn’t wait to get back here and I tried to be as positive as I could when I came on.”
