Grimshaw Ready To Follow In Illustrious Footsteps

18 January 2016

Liam Grimshaw is well aware of the well-trodden path between Salford and Deepdale and is looking forward to getting started.

The new recruit in PR1 spoke to PNE.Com after completing his medical and paperwork and said that he hoped to have as successful a career as those who have joined the Lilywhites from Manchester United in the past.

“If you look back over the last few years there have been people like Danny Welbeck who have come here and of course David Beckham when he was younger.

“There have been a lot of other permanent signings from Manchester United as well and hopefully this is a good chance for me to come here, play and improve,” he told the official website.

The new North End No.31 has spent the first half of the season north of the border at Motherwell and feels this experience is going to benefit him.

“I have really enjoyed my time at Motherwell and I would like to thank them for giving me the opportunity to play every week,” he continued. “It is a great club and I really enjoyed it there. The loan move has really benefitted me.

“I followed Ben’s [Pearson] progress as well and it is the same situation; we have gone out and managed to play some league games and now we have got our moves.

“This is a chance to get my career going. It is great to be back home in Lancashire and I am looking to get settled and start to kick on with my career.”

So what about him as a player? He can play in both defence and midfield, but how did he describe himself? “I can play in quite a few different positions; right back, centre half and in midfield – which is where I have mainly played at Motherwell.

“I like to work hard, put my foot in and break the play up, but I can also go forward with the ball when required,” he added.
